SEEN IN ALPS

THE WEATHER CLEARS Rec. Jan. 18, 11.50 p.m. London, January 18. A Lausanne message states that Captain Hope received two clues during his search for Hinkler. Two students skiing near Diableat on Saturday say that they sighted a machine, probably Hinkler's. While a gendarme at Montana also saw a machine, the identification marks whereof corresponded with Hinkler's. The weather improved to-day and Captain Hope is searching the Simplon district.
