FRENCH AUTHORITIES SAY HE NEVER CROSSED FRANCE CHANNEL DISASTER FEARED
-By Telegrf-pti — Ccfy.nght).
Paris, January! 17. The French authorities have exhaustively enquired for Mr. Bert Hinkler, at the request of the British Air Ministry. They report that there is no evidence of an unknown airman crossing France. Aerial control is so close that it is impossible for a 'plane to cross France unseen. It is unlikely that Hinkler had gone so far out of his course as the Alps, especially in winter. They fear that he met with disaster in the Channel.
