RESIDENCE GUTTED

FIRE IN SEDDON ST. WEST Shortly after 2 o'clock this morning a fire badly gutted a house in Seddon Street West owned by Mr. W. Cooper, taxi proprietor, of Rotorua. Mr. Cooper was awakened by the suffocating smoke which had penetrated into the bedroom and on investigating found the house amass of flames. His first thought was the safety of his wife and children who he conducted to safety, afterwards giving the alarm. When the fire brigade arrived' the entire building was in flames but its further spread was quickly stopped, though not before the interior of the house was almost completely gutted. It is understood that the building and contents were both insured.
