RAPID DAIRY PROGRESS

In the report on the dairying industry, the Supervisor^ of Dairy Exports (M'r. P. J. Carroll) says that he is deeply impressed hy the industry possibilities in the Great Southern and South-West, and believes that progres's will now be rapid. In 1921 the production of butter was only 2,658,1531b, Irnt for the year ended June 30, 1932, it was nearly 10,100,000 lb. During the last five years there has been an increase of over 12 per cent. in the nurnher of cows milked, and of 69 per cent. in the amourit of butter ■ produced in the State. Legislation providing for definite standards in the processes of the manufacture of butter and of its export has been passed hy the State Parliament. — Melbourne exchange. v
