The Government meteoroloplst - issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situatio'n: The recent nor- • thern cyclone has at last passed away and a rather intense westerly depression has advanced on to the Dominion; an anti-cyclone covers Eastern Australia with its centre to-day over Tasmania. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong northerly to westerly, backing to squally southerly by to-mor-row. Weather: Cloudy and unsettled with rain in most districts; temperatures becoming cooler to-morr.ow, but conditions impr-oving rapidly after a southerly change. Following ara the barometer maxi- t mum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta* tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.736ins. Thermometer (max.) 74.5deg, Thermometer (min.) 64.8deg. Thermometer (mi'n. on grass) 63.7deg. Rainfall 0.21ins. Bright Sunshine 3.5hrs.
