HARD-UP SOCIAL A most successful "hard-up" dance was held by the Ngongotaha branch of the W.D.F.U. on Friday evening. Excellent music was rendered by an orchestra under Mr. C. Castleton. Prizes for the "hard-up" costumes were won by Mrs. Beaufill 1, Miss I. Unsworth 2, Mr. A. Keith, and most comical section by Mr. J. Reidy. The lucky number was won by Miss L. Drysdale (Auckland). Among those present were: Mesdames Beaufill, M. Reidy, A. Davies, D. Cambie, H. Bryce, V. Florey, A. Isdale, D. Sinclair, E. Hands, W. Coulter, S. Matthews, W. Bell, F. Briggs, C. Castleton. Misses Dallas, Cronin, L. Drysdale, Marie Drysdale, N. Lyle, Martha Patterson, E. Patterson, G. Patterson, Bernice Burney, M. Guillard, Iris Unsworth, H. Matthews, J. Matthews, R. O'Connell, Muriel O'Connell, F. Unsworth, C. Dunn, I. Stembridge, J. Martin, R. Jarlov, C. iPaine, S. Marcroft, A. Marcroft, Masie Ford, Myrtle Ford, E. Jackson, R. Douglas, M. Starr, Colleen Cronin. Personal Mrs. McPherson and family are spending a holiday in Auckland. Miss Jean Isdale is holiday making at The Mount.
