Chang-eable weather conditions somewhat interrupted the continuity of play in the final round of the Rotorua Cricket Association's McLean Cup matches at the Government Grounds on Saturday afternoon. In the first innings against City, Albion compiled the handy total of 221 runs, the greater part of this score being made by Wallis, who carried his bat for 137 runs after playing a delightful innings, which was chanceless until he had passed the century mark. City opened shortly before 6 o'cloek and when stumps were drawn had lost one wicket for five runs. ^ Ngongotaha made 150 runs against •Cld Boys in their first visit to the crease, their skipper, R. Dawson contributing a sound 47 as the highest ! rcorer. Old Boys commenced badly i and had lost two wickets for 21 runs I at stumps. BEST PERFORMANCES Batting Wallis (Albion) 137* j R. City Burton and Hinton opened for Albion, the latter being bowled by Harding before a run had been scored, but 16 runs had been added before Gresham was bowled by Godsalve for 12. Wallis was the hext man in and he and Burton immediately settled down to add- 33 for the third wicket before Burton was eaught by Hewson off Bowden. Wallis continued to bat attractively and made his runs quickly. With the help of McGill (10), and ITarshall (25), the total was carried 1 ast the double century mark, but the tail failed to "wag" and with Leni1 an absent the innings closed for 221 k runs. Wallis hit 27 fours in a total j of 137 not out. Harding was the most l steady bowler for City and he was ' rlways treated with respect. He 1 bowled 14 overs, six maidens and took four wickets for 32 runs. j City commenced with Harding and Davis, the former scoring five off j Wallis. Hansen yielded 51 runs for the third wicket and H. Turton (20) and Pitts (17) also contributed useful totals towards the innings which closed for 150 runs. Dawson was the highest scorpr with -il and F. Hansen scored 22 runs. For Old Boys, Neeson took three wickets for 32, and Laurence in taking two for six effectively disposed of the tailenders.
