The Government meteorolonlst issued the following weather report and forecast last niffht: — General situation: A deep depression is located over the western Tasman Sea, while a slight a'nti-cyclone is centred east of New Zealand. Forecast: Winds moderate, but fresh- i ening north-easterly to northerly. Weather: Fine and warm generaily at first, but unsettled conditions and rain developing to-morrow at first in western districts and becoming fairly general by Friday. Foliowing are the barometer maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readi'ngs recorded at the Government Observation Sta> tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.742ins. Thermometer (max.) 80,6deg. Thermometer (min.) .... 50.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 46.0deg. Rainfall .... Nil Bright Sunshine 13.5hrs.
