RUSSIAN CHRISTMAS
CELEBRATING UNDER THE OLD JULIAN l CALENDER Moscow, January 6. Millions of Russians are- celebrating their Christmas Eve and taking a day's lioliday, though Christmas is no longer a recognised holiday, and workers are liable to drastic penalties for unjustified absenee from work. Despite Atheistic propaganda the churches were crowded, particularly in the villages. The Russians are celebrating their Christmas according to the Julian calendar, whieh makes it 13 days later than under the Gregorian.
