DEATH OF AUTHOR

London, January 6. The death is announced of the Rt. Hon. John Mackinnon Robertson, P.C., the well-known author and lecturer, aged 76. Mr. J. M. Robertson was a native of the Island of Arran. In 1878 he joined the staff of the Edinburgh Evening News as leader writer, and Jater went to London to join Mr. Charles Bradlough, the National ref ormer. He was returned to Parliament as Liberal member for the Tyneside Division of Northumberland in 1906, retaining the seat until 1916 and was Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, 1911-15.
