WEATHER REPORTS FOR THE TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHT
GOOD LUCK MESSAGES
-By TelegrapJi — Copyrlght).
Rec. Jan. 5, 10.30 p.m. Sydney, January 5. Sir Kingsford Smith has arranged with a number of amateur radio stations to furnish data in regard to weather conditions in Australia and New Zealan^, ' prior to the Tasman flight, which has been tentatively fixed for the early morning of January 11. The messages will be received by Mr. Hutchison, of Kirribilli, who in turn will send them to the weather bureau at Sydney where. a report will be compiled and telegraphed to Sir Kingsford at Gerringong. The rearrangement of the northern flight of the South ern Cross has rendered the wireless cabin comparatively noiseless. Smithy has been inundated with good luck messages. They arrive at the rate of 100 a day. The only personal effects the crew will take are pyjamas, tooth brushes and -razoi's.
