The summer carnival of the Auckland Racing Club was eoncl'uded today in dull' weather before a fair attendance. The course was in excellent order. Jalldy Karo and L'Allegro were the first to move, but before a furlong had been covered Whakapara had drawn to the front to lead along the back and across the top from L'Allegro, Azalea, Gay Idea and Jalldy Karq. As they turned for home Azalea was going nicely in front with L'Allegro and Whakapara almost alongside her, and Jalldy Karo and Chief Joy the handiest of the others. The favourite momentarily appeared to have the race won when she settled L'Allegro and Whakapara below the distance, but she failed to withstand the challenge by Jalldy Karo, who beat her by a short head. Gay Idea, who arrived on the scene late, was two lengths away third, followed by Merry Damon, Xilanore, L'Allegro and Whakapara. Impasto got all the best of the dispatch and when they had settled down was showing the way to Weatherwise, Fracas and Deputy Ruler. Impasto had drawn out clear going through the cutting where Bon Rapide, W eatherwise, Deputy Ruler, Epigram and Transaction, who had lost a little ground, were racing almost in a bunch. The leader swung round the turn to hold the advantage from Bon Rapide and Weatherwise with Epigram, Pelagia, Deputy Ruler and Fracas in pursuit. A splendid race ensued over the iinal stages, Weatherwise hotly chailenging on the outside and Fracas putting in a good run on the rails. The verdict, by half a head, went to Weatherwise over Impasto, whom the judge placed three-quarters of a length in front of Fracas, although from the press stand the margin appeared to be considerably less. Deputy Ruler finished fourth and then came Epigram, Pelagia and Bon Rapide. GRANDSTAND HANDICAP Of £600; U miles. 3— GREAT STAR, 8.3— R. Coveney 1 2 — SUNNY SKY, 8.3— A.
