driver escapes when car crashes seventy feet

Te Kuiti, Wednesday, A marvellous escape from death occurred in the Awakino Valley yesterday morning. Mr. Charles Harvey, foreman of the New Plymouth tramways, when driving to Te Kuiti ^ith his wife and three children, failed to negotiate . a sharp corner, and the car left the road and dropped over a sheer precipice of 70 feet, landing on the houlders of the river hed. Three children were thrown otrfc in the descent, being eaught hy growth on the face of the cliff, ahd they escaped with severe bruises and shock. Mrs. Harvey suffered most severely ^ - and was taken to the Nfew Plymouth Hospitah . , Mr. Harvey is also suffering from shock and abrasions. The car landed upside down, and flattened out like a cardboard box. .
