The Rotorua Tennis Club's Christmas tournament was advanced a further stage yesterday, the semi-finals in most sections being reached. The weather was again ideal and with play approaching the final stages the interest of the many onlookers was well maintained. In the semi-final of the men's championship singies Livingstone won from Jenkinson by default and N. Smith, of Rotorua, also maintained his position by Tbeating Hardy decisively 6-3, 6-3. This morning Livingstone and Smith will meet in the final, and this game will undoubt'edly attract considerable interest. The final of the ladies championship singies will also be deeided this morning the finalists being Miss Beverley and Miss Newton. Other final games to be' played today are the mens' championship doubles, the ladies' handicap douhles and the ladies' championship doubles, while all other sections will reach the finals, which will be played on Friday. The results of yesterday's play were as follows. CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS Men's Championship Singies Fourth Round: Livingstone b'eat Stedman 6-3, 4-6, 7-5; Jenkinson heat Kawase 6-1, 6-1; Smith beat Johnston 6-2, 6-2; Hardy beat Cavaye 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Waters 6-0, 6-1; Miss Beverley beat Miss Downing 6-0, 6-2; Miss Morrison heat Miss M. Beverley 5-6, 6-4; 6-2; Miss Newton heat Miss Mirrielees 6-0, 6-1.
