An unusual pastime for a clex-gy-man's daughter is that chosen by Miss Winnifried Howard, of New York, who flits away on world wanderings as ship's deckhand, or in some other lowly mannish capacity, satisfying a thirst for first-hand knowledge of unusual things. In her most recent trip she was engine-room assistant and had quite exciting adventures in Panama, the Philippines, Ho'ng Kong, and Manchuria. Luminous hair dyes, which glow softly in the dark, are the invention of a London hairdresse-r. These dyes, which are in the form of a harmless powder, are sprayed over the (hair and can he obtained in almost any colour to xnatch the user's kowjx.
