GRAND THEATRE
TO-NIGHT. DOUBLE FEATURE PROGRAMME j I Eddie Quinlan and Robert Arm- j strong have become one of the screen's most popular pairs of stars, can put another feather — a hig feather — in | their caps, | For "The Tip Off" their latest RKO Path offering playing to-night at the Grand Theatre is really a knockout! , It's a family picture, this one. There are plenty of good, clean laughs, lots of love interest and more swift action than you can shake a stiek at. As the young radio man who beeomes the buddy of a fighter (Robert Armstrong), Quillan is at his best best and the performance of Armstrong is as smooth as usual. Everything is serene in Quillan's life until he falls in love with the sweetheart of an East Side hoodlum. In fairness to the girl, the ruffian's love is not reciproeated. Anyh'ow, Eddie has his troubles in attempting to win the lady, and his exploits with the hoodlum's gang make a picture packed with thrills. The supporting cast consists of Joan Peers, the girl; Ginger Rogers, "another" girl; Ralf Harolde, as the ruffian; Charles Sellon, Luis Alberni and Mike Donlin. SECOND FEATURE Charles Jones now at the Grand Theatre, minus the wide sombrero and woolly chaps of his usual screen characterisation. In his new picture, "High Speed," he has a new type of role as a daring young racetrack driver. Loretta Sayers has the leading feminine part in the picture, which was directed by D. Ross Lederman. William Walling, Ed Le Saint, Wallace MacDonald, Ward Bon and Pat O'Malley have other leading roles.
