(From
An Opotiki resident, Mrs. W. J. Hartley, received painful bruises and shock yesterday when a car in which -she was travelling with her hushand left the road and crashed over a bank at a spot about 17 miles from Opotiki on the Taneatua Road. The cause of the accident was apparently a fault in the steering gear, which develo.ped suddenly as Mr. Hartley was negotiating a corner. The car refused to take the bend and crashed through a fence and over a bank. The maehine was badly damaged and was subsequently towed into Opotiki 'by Horne's service wagon.
