ROTORUA CLUB'S ANNUAL HOLIDAY TOURNEY OPENS INITIAL ROUNDS PLAYED The annual holiday tournament eonducted by the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club eommenced yesterday on the Government Gardens courts under dull but pleasant playing conditions. Fortunately the threat of rain from the overcast sky did not materialise and the courts were in generally good order. Rain during the previous evening had mads some of the backlines on the worn p'atches a trifle greasy but these dried up during the day. Once again the great majority of the entries were forthcoming from visitors and included among 'them were several names ranking prominently in New Zealand tournament play. Entries were most satisfactory and the difficulties of the initial rounds were expeditously handled by Mr. D.'McFarlane of Auckland, assisted by offieials of the club.
