SIR FRANK DYSON TO RETIRE NEXT YEAR Rec. Dec. 24. Rugby, Dee. 23 The King has sanctioned the appointment of Mr. Speneer Jones, astronomer, at the Cape of Good Hope Observatory, to he Astronomer Royal at the Royal Observatory, Greenwieh, in succession to Sir Franlc Dyson, who will retire from the Public Service on February 28. Sip Frank Dyson has been astronomer Royal since 1910. His successor has done a considerable amount of work in co-operation with the Union Observatory and discovered the new star Nova Victoris.
