MEN'S ONLY HOPE IS TO BARRICADE THEMSELVES

Ree. Dee. 26, 6.10 p.m. Noweaqua, Illinois, Dee. 24. Fifty-two miners were trapped by a sliale and rock slide in a co-opera-tivo mine on Saturday. ' The director of the State Department of Mines said that if the men were fortunate enough to have barricaded themselves they may escape the deadly mine damp and they conld be got to safety.
