Women's Tennis Fashions

A great deal has been said recently regarding the informality of women's tennis fashions, but although it was strictly a holiday gathering, there was little of this informality evident at the tourney conducted by the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club yesterday, There were many more recruits to the stockingless brigade but otherwise there were no innovations. Several Attempts There was an unusual incident at yesterday's sports carnival conducted Tby the Rotorua Amateur Athletie and Cyeling Club. Five teams started in the cluh relay race and the New Plymouth Club representatives finished first. However a protest was lodged by the Hamilton Cluh and it was decided to re-run the race. This was accordingly done and as. a result of fumbling at the change-over, the Hamilton team won. Neither team was satisfied, however, and New Plymouth finally offered to give Hamilton 15 yards start and run the race again. For the seeond time this was done, hut once again there was trouble in transferring the haton. Hamilton carried off the honours. It looked like developing into an endurance contest but at this stage, the discussion lapsed.
