OFFER REFUSED GREAT BRITAIN ADHERES TO ITS ORIGINAL CONCESSION NO WITHDRAWAL

Dunedin, Friday. According to a statement issued tonight by the Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Great Britain has not accepted the offer of the New Zealand Government to resume its 'war debt payments. Mr. Stewart said that the Government had reeeived a reply expressing warm appreciation of the generous feeling prompting the offer but stating that the Government of the United Kingdom had no intention either of qualifying or withdrawing its offer for the suspension of the debt payments made to the Dominion Governments.
