Newspaper Holiday. The "Morning Post" will not puhlish on Monday, December 26, Boxing Day, or on the foliowing Monday, January 2. Visitors Arriving A large inflnx of visitors to Rotorua took place yesterday and throughout the day the town presented a busy appearance. The accommodation on the express whieh arrived from Auckland during the afternoon was doubled and this was generally well filled, while many passengers werC carried by service cars. Shortly after 5 o'clock this morning a special train will arrive from Auckland and this,with other expresses arriving during the day will carry th'e bulk of the traffic. 4

Monday's Sports Arrangements are well in hand for the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and . Cycling Club's sports meeting to take place on the Government Gjrounds on Monday afternoon, "Boxing Day. The track is in excellent order and the elub officials are busily engaged in providing extensive seating accommodation. This year eompetitors have entered from all parts of the North Island and include such well-kn'own athletes as S. Black, New Zealand quarter-mile champion, J. W. Shirley, New Zealand champion hurdler, G. Watt, Wellington University champion quarter-miler and many others including H. Dwight and Foubister in the' cycling events. An exceptionally fine finish should ,be seen in the quarter-mile event between Black and Watt, both of whom are in excellent form, The first event will commence at 1.45 p'.m. Holiday on the Lakes The sheltered bays of th'e Rotorua lakes are assuming their holiday bustle at the present time. The growing popularity of the summer cottage area on Lake Rotoiti is particularly evident and everywbere cars are moving, tents going up, and holiday lake craft coming off the rollers. The great majority of the summer cottages on Rotoiti are now occupied and fresh parties of campers and visitors are arriving every day. Modern Ballroom In preparation for the Christmas holiday season, extensive improvements have been carried out at the Majestic Ballroom. The orchestra stage has been entirely remodelled according to the latest modern design, and now presents a most striking seting. The design is the work of a Rotorua artist, Mr. Roy Pilkington. In addition special holiday decorations have transformed the hall and special lighting effects have been introduced.

Welcome Rain, The heavy rain whieh commenced on Thursday evening will prove most welcome in all parts of the Rotorua and Bay of Pl'enty districts. The prolonged dry spell has noticeably affected the pastures but these will he ! revived by the thorough soaking they j have received. Haymaking, in some areas however, will receive a sethack From Heaven or The service car agents report that the usual Christmas rush is quite up to standard even to th'e number of those individuals who appear to he sent by heaven — or somewhere not quite so respectable to harass busy people. One frequent enquirer of this sort this year is the person who at the busiest moment possible comes in and inquire the fare by various routes to some distant point only to reply on receipt of the information, "Thank you I didn't want a ticket. I'm travelling in my own car, but I just wanted to know how much I would save." Well-Known Dancing InstructoTs Visiting Rotorua at the present time are Miss Margaret O'Connor and Mr. W. E. Priestley, of Auckland and Wellington, who may justly claim to be New Zealand's leading teachers of ballroom dancing. Visitors to Rotorua as well as local residents will he pleased to learn that Miss O'Connor ] and Mr. Priestley have made arrange- ! ments to give lessons during their stay in Rotorua and the Majestic Ballroom has been made available for this purpose, as from Tuesday next' December 27. The hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily Practice classes are free and private lessons may he arranged for all the latest dances.*
