The Gowrnment meteoroloplst issued the follovying weather report ancl forecast last nijht: — General situation: Since yesterday afternoon a rather deep depression has developed rapidly over south-eastern Austraiia, while pressure rerpaihs high to the east of New Zealand, Forecast: Winds moderate to strong easterlies to northerlies. Weather: Cloudy, warm and sultry with fairly generai rain, especially in the North Island where some heavy falls are expeoted, but more scattered at first in the South lsland. Foliowing are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta« tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.028ins. Thermometer (max.) 70.9deg. Thermometer (min.) 59.0deg. Rai'nfall 0.18ins. Bright Sunshine Nil
