4de fer the construetion of th • new .'ino Bath, to have tiie second and e.rger pool suiliciently advanced to dlow oi' its use for bathing during he coming season and that it would uidoubtedly constitine a very great ittraction, pariicularly to visitors to .he town. The bath is standard size for wimming championships, and it is ioped, he said that ehampionship conosts would be heid in it .from time time. ''The Department has now provided kotnrua with better facilities in the • way of mineral water bathing pools ■ian are to be i'ound anywhere else i tiie Southern Ilemisphere," said Ir. Baj'feild, "there being the ladies • vvimming pool and the men's swimnl:ig p>ol at the Ward Baths and the •irge and juvenile pools at the Blue Bath. I desire to point out that these acilities have co.-t a considerable nnount of money, and I trust that the iuidic of Rotorua will make use of heso facilities and will do their best > advertise them, amongst their riends and visitors." Not tiufliciently Patronised About a year ago, Mr. Bayfeild .-liated that he considered that 70 pe r cent. oi the population of Rotorua nad never seen the inside of the Ward Baths. It was possible that during the ..ast year, many of those who had not . een the building, had now done so, *>ut at the same time he considered .hat not nearly sufficient patronage uul been given to the baths. This on .o]> of the agitation of the local people trom time to time for huge amounts f money to be spent on providing new baths, did not seem quite the hing. 'Tt is hopeil," Mr. Bayfeild conlined, "that the whole of the new Blue Jath building which will be a very .;2ie structure when completed, will * ready for next year. The No. 3 Block which is still to be built, will mitain, entrance and lounge on the ground floor, and a tea house on the iop." As it is too close to Christmas to rrange anything in the nature of an olnciai opening ceremony, in eonnecton with th'3 large pool, it lias been lecided to postpone this function until he middle of January, when Mr. Bay>'ld hopes to have authority to, inite the r.'ublie to attend the ceremony .•ud thoroughly inspect the building.
