AUSTRALIAN BOYS' BAND

OONCERT WEDNESDAY NIGHT The visit of the Y.A.L. boys to New Zealand is an >event of national importance, hringing, as" they do, the goodwill and benediction of those in authority in the Commonwealth of Australia. But they bring moxe th'an that! They bring the organisation to delight and entertain us as they have done in many countries throughout the world. The Y.A.L. Band was selected from 3-8 bands in Sydney to lead the Great Floral Pageant at the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, What greater honour could be bestowed? The Y.A.L. has been received in audience by his Majesty the King, the Prince of Wales, the King and Queen of the Belgians, and President Hoover. , These boys took Sydney* by storm when they played at the State Theatre as a stage attra.ction, and were then s'ent to Melbourne and Brisbane to play at the Regent and Tivoli Theatres in those cities. Describing the performance of the boys in a letter to Sir H-eaton Rbodes the Lord Mayor of Sydney says: — ■ "It was my very great pleasure to witness the performance which was given by the Young Australia League Boys at the "Savoy" Theatre in Sydney, and I was certainly amazed at the versatility which was displayed throughout the whole production. One could perhaps, he pardoned for lack of desire to listen to a band composed of a nurnber of juniors, but, to my mind, the performance was unsurpassed in our city for sheer musical ability. I understand these lads will malce a tour of New Zealand shortly where performanees will be given in aid of hospitals and relief funds ,and I can assure the people of New Zealand that in attending the performance presented by the boys they will not only be helping a good cause but they will get entertainment value equal to any high class professional adult performance." The band and revue party arrives in Rotorua on Wednesday morning and open at the Lyric Theatre in the evening. Intending patrons should reserve seats. Prices are 4/- reserved, 3/- ordinary.
