CHRISTMAS PARTY

i . • CHILDREN CELEBRATE AT DEVON STREET HALL. To marlc the end of the Devon St. Sunday School year, the superintendent, Mr. W. A. Carter, and Mrs. Carter, together "with' the teachers of the various classes, gave a very bright and jolly Christmas party for their pupils. There was over a hundred small guests present and time passed vsry quickly in games, items, prizegiving, and last, but not least a visit from Father Christmas himself. Two tea tables had been arranged for the children, the one for the smaller members being prettily arranged with pink sweet peas and blue trellised paper, while the table for the older members looked resplendant with orange iceland poppies and balloons. The miniature Christmas tree in the middle gave the final touch of Christmas to the decorations. A dainty tea had been prepared and after each child had received a paper hat, the demolition of the laden tables began in earnest. After tea, numerous items were given by the children, | which were heartily received by the : large audience of mothers and friends | present. j Prior to presenting the prizes won i during the year by the children, the i Rev. Mr. Corbin wished all the season's greetings and called for a hearty vote of thanks to the snperintendent and staff of the Devon St. Sunday School. j Carols and Christmas songs whiled I j away the time until the arrival of the ! great event of the evening — Father ! i Christmas' visit. word of cheer commenced to divest ; himself of all the good things his j sacks contained. Supper and the presentation of 1 sweets to the smaller members ! brought this very happy function to a close. Among the prize-winners were: Kindergarten section (Teacher, Mrs. W. A. Carter) : 1st Natalie Dawson; 2nd, Dorothy Smith; 1st Bruce Smith; 2nd Noel Lily.
