HOSPITAL BOARD
FINAL MEETING FOR THE YEAR HELD YESTERDAY The usual monthly meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board was held in the Council chambers on Wednesday. Present, Messrs, F. J. Short (chairman), McDonnell, H. M. Budd (medical superintendent), G- Moody, J. T. Merry, C. Black. Mr. Moody proposed, Mr. Black seconded, that the annual balance sheet be adopted. A letter was read from the secretary of the Sunshine League (Mrs. E. F. Fleming) , thanlcing the Hospital Board for the help extended to the league at its recent garden fete. Mr. Short mentioned that the Sunshine League was holding its usual function at the hospital on Christmas Eve and he expressed a desire that members of the board he present. Mr. Black said that in view of the fact that the Sunshine League had so materially assisted the board, he did not think members showecl their appreciation as much as they should do. The chairman agreed with Mr. Black. Mr. McDonnell asked if the secretary could produce a list of patients' fees outstanding, as some of the amounts that had been hanging on for so long could be wiped offThe chairman advised that generally a list was given to the board at the end of the finaneial year and the matter was gone into then. The secretary said that a list was now being made out and would be forwarded before the end of the finaneial year. Accounts amounting to £241 were passed for payment. The meeting closed with the exchange of seasonal greetings between members.
