MAORI YOUTH SENT TO GAOL FOR ASSAULT) ti ■ In the Magistrate's Court held at Opotiki on Wednesday before Mr. S. L. Paterson S.M., Sonny Haeri /Was charged with assaulting Johnny Coleman and was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment. Sergeant Millar gave evidence to the effect that accused h'ad struck Coleman on the mouth. The next day Goleman had been admitted to the Opotiki Hospital and had had to remain there for seven days and now had to pay £4 4/- hospital fees: Adcused had heen twice conVicted before and the sergeant considered 'h'e was of a bullying disposition.
