on taupiri land BLEDISLOE AWARD TO EXLINCOLN COLLEGE STUDENTS AWARD FOR YEAR 1932

Christchurch, Tuesday. The Bledisloe Award for 1932, presented by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, for award to ex-students of Lincoln College who are considered to have rendered the greatest service to the agricultural community, has been awarded to Mr. George Renshire of Taupiri, Waikato. In 1916, Mr. Renshire, who was the first agricultural instructor employed by the Canterbury Education Board, and who later became a member of the Board of Govei'nors, went to Taupiri, taking up a block of 500 acres. He redueed it to fine pasture, and- was the pioneer in Waikato of intensive winter feeding. The use of fertilisers was more 01* less a new departure. He also achieved marked success in reclamation. Last year his return from 215 cows avei*aged 300.81bs per cow.
