To England's total of 502 runs, Tasmania in the last day of the match at Launceston replied with 229 in the first innings, Badcock was the top scorer with 57 and Putnam next with 56 not out. Mitchell took six wickets for 70 runs. The innings lasted 200 minutes. Tasmania followed on and scored 147. England won by an innings and 126 runs.
