A table issued by the Amalgamated "Gode Compilei*s shows the effect of the new five-letter code on the hasis of 20d per.word will he no dearer than the old ten-letter system up to eiglit words, but thereafter , the new system will he progressively dearer. For examplo the increase will he as much as 7s on a fifty-word message. The week-end letter rate is abolished in favour of a standard rate of one-third of the full rate, with a minimum equivalent to 25 words. All urgent messages are to he double instead of treble ordinary rates.
