THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroloqlst issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — Ge'nera! situation: A slight depression has been crossing New Zealand, whiie an anti-cyclone is crossing the southern Tasman Sea; rather low pressure conditions are prevailing in teh tropics generally. Forecast: Winds light to fresh and variable, southerlies prevailing over the South Island and northerlies at first over the North Island, but changing later to southerlies. Weather: Fine and mild in most -districts, but soon isolated showers likely inlanci in the South Island. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.042ins. Thermometer (max.) 72.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 57.0deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine (estimated) .... 7.9hrs.
