(2) Regarding conferences of landlords, unemployed and members of Parliament to dfia'l with the ranf . questions. — I feel that no good purpose can be servad hy the Government' entering into this question. "(3) To make equal provision for both sexes. — Provision according to circumstances and those means at our disposal are available for unem- » ployed women. "(4) The pay of 10s a day for married men and 7s 6d a day for single men being paid is considered to he reasonable, when taking into account the average earnings of workers in most industries to-day. "(5) The proposal that camp. work be voluntary can be considered. "(6) Regarding payment of over--eas and other debt obligations. This is a matter for Parliament to cons.ider. "I should like to draw your attention to the f ollowing facts, which at this stage, it is well to remember: — The estimated average weekly ineome ' 7 of the Unemployment Board is approximately £73 000. At present the board's weekly allocation is £83,000. For a number of weeKs during the late winter and spi'ing the board's weekly allocation was £91,000. Although the board's funds are quite healthy it is easy to see what the refult would he if the weekly allocations continued above our average . weekly income." a
