DOUBLE DROWNING
TRAGEDY AT PORO PORO Whakatane, Saturday. A double drowning accident occurred late yesterday afternoon in the Whakatane River at Poro Poro,whereby Willie Savage, aged 35 years, lost his life in attempting to pescue his son, aged seven years, who had got into diffieulties while bathing with other native children. Both the father and the son were drowned. The father dived, fully clothed, and it is surmised that he was caught in a snag. The bodies have not been recovered.
