Women's Club Appeal The Rotorua Women's Club is woi'king hard to prpvide Christmas cheer for the needy families of Rotorua. As far as funds will permit, parcels will be made up for distribution this weelc-end. Monetary donations towards the club's good work will be much appreciated, and goods such as Christmas puddings, sweets, toys will be very weleome. An earnest appeal for help is made by the club, whose funds are much depleted by the heavy calls made upon them during the winter months. Dairy Pay-Outs The advance prices for butterfat supplicd to the New Zealand Dairy Company's factories during the month' of November are as, follow: Superftne butterfat for buttermaking 71d per lb; superftne butterfat for cheesemaking- 9d. Arawa Conoert The Hon. W. Tugi, Prime Minister of Tonga and his son Prince Tausa Auha will be present at the Arawa Concert party's concert in the Peerless Hall to-night and a special programme is being arranged in their honour. Springfiield Camp Rodeo Prepai-ations are well in h'and for the big rodeo at Springfield Stadium on New Year's Day. January 2. The organis'er is receiving many inquiries from all over New Zealand regarding the steer-riding and it seems eertain that the numher of events in this seetion will have to be increased still further. Ngakuru Progress Good progress is being made with the Ngakuru settlement scheme and at present Messrs Lee Bros., of Rotorua, are busy erecting new milking sheds which will be brought into use shortly by sharemilkers. Good Trolling Catch Trolling from the launch Shamroclc, yesterday in the vieinity of Mission Bay, Mr. C. Norton, of Auckland .and Mr. Fear, of Sydney, toolc 16 fish. Tbe bag averaged about 31bs and was in good condition. The heaviest fish was in tbe vieinity of 5 lbs. Whakarewarewa Sewerage Loans Ratepayers are reminded that tbe loan proposals in eonnection with the two sewerage sehemes for the native village of Whakarewarewa and the ! adjoining area, will be taken to-mor-row. The polling booths are at St.* John's Ilall, Pulcuatua Street and the Pohutu Tea Kiosk, Tryon Street. Ratepayers in the special area will be permitted to vote on both proposals, but ratepayers in the borough generally will vote only on the proposal to instal the sewerage system in the native village. Car Damaged When in the vieinity of Fairy Springs on Saturday afternoon a seclhn car, driven by Mr. A. J. Isdale, of Ngongotaha, slcidded and struck a banlc at the side of the road. No injury was received by the driver, but a wheel of the car was severely damaged. Successful Cbaritable Function The enterprise of the Rotorua Rotary Club, with the assistance of Mr. A. J. Macdermott, in arranging a pieture entertainment in the Majestic Theatre last evening to provide Christmas liampers for citizens of Rotorua in distressed cireumstances met with an ample reward and was probably one of the most successful charitable functions held in the town. Both the cirele and lower floor of the theatre were praetically filled to capacity and although figures were fiot available last night, it was stated that the fund will benefit to a con•siderable extent. The programme, consisting of topical news reels and '"A Magnificent Lie," featuring Ruth Chatterton well rewarded the patrons for their help in a deserving cause.
