The diverting story of a plumber v/hose presence in a lady's bath-room leads to a series of uproarious complieations provides for no end of laugh'ter and amusement in "The Passionat Plumber," which opens at the Ma- ; jestic Theatre to-night. Th'e laughs ;start when Keaton is forc'ed to sign a "love contraet" in which he guarantees to make violent love to Irene Purcell whenever Gilbert Roland, her fickle suitor, is around. In an attempt to give satisfactory service, Keaton is precipdtated into a series of madcap escapades in many showplaces of America's capiduels, attempts to play the old roue, impersonates a doctor when he is caught in a lady's bedroom and finally is mad'e the butt of a terrific barrage ; of flying dishes and statuary. As the plumber, Keaton is given an opportunity to display an unexpected talent at sophisticated farce. Many of the situations are worked up to an amusing degree by sparkling dialogue and then Keaton tops them off with j some of his hilarions slapstick. j The second feature is based on De- ! nison Clift's story of intrigue in Was- | hington, both political and personal, | "Man About Town." ' Set in a locale that includ'es the j many showplaces of the nation's eapital, the film is said to convey an inj timate picture of political and social i intrigue in the international colony. j The processes of the Unted States S'ecret Service, as they attempt to unravel a foreign plot, are revealed. With • a background of world politics and soj cial functions, the story of "Man About Town," is woven around the in1 domitable love of the two men for one woman. Warner Baxter, handsome and talented screen star whose popularity has steadily increased since he came into prominence for his x*ole in "In Old Arizona," appears in the leading part, that of a gentleman gambler, Secret Service agent and lover. Conway Tearle plays an important role of a man, mad with jealousy, attempting to send a friend to his death.
