RIVER AND BUSH

FERN-FRINGEB REACIIES OF THE WAIMANA. Few spots are more beautiful or have sueh a beautiful approach to them as the little known Waimana Gorge. Little-known, that is, to' the average man, for those who do know it are loud in its praises. Close to Taneatua, where the rail cnds, the gorge begins. It is a fisherman's paradise, for the ripples conceal many a hungry trout and the river is easy to fish, even from the novice point of view. All along the river through the gorge are wonderful spots for picnics, whilst the river itself fairly invites one to bathe. Handy to Taneatua, with its historical Maori fortress, Waimana Gorge is a fine place to spend at least one day of the holiday season.
