EVENING MEETING ROTORUA GLUB CONCLUDES FIRST TWO-MONTHLY SERIES SPIRITED COMPETITION The last of the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's Novem-ber-December series of evening sports meetings was held at the Government grounds last evening before a good attendance. 5 There was a further improvement in competitors' form and racing was keen in all events. Particularly fine finishes. resulted in the final of the 75 yards handicaps for men and ladies, the event being won in both cases by inches. From scratch, Mat Bell Secured the double in the one and two mile cycling events, and in both he rode exceptionally well judged races. After taldng the lead in the second lap of the two mile run, and maintaining it until the final hundred yards, the backmarker, C. Randerson was narrowly beaten by Matthews, who put his whole effort into the final sprint. The combined relay race between teams representing- the P. and T. D6partment, High School and Ladies was one of the most interesting on the programme and resulted in a win for P. ahd T. with the others close behind. Time 8 3-5sec. Final: Barber 1, Pennington 2, Herewini 3. Time, 8 2-5sec. 75yds Ladies Handicap: First Heat — B. Cottrell (3yds) 1, M. Ford (5 yds) 2, Mrs. Pennington (7yds) 3. Time 9 4-5sec.
