UNUSUALLY HEAVY ENTRY AT TE AWAMUTU SALE
Hamilton, Friday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their last Te Awamutu sale for the year, held yesterday: — Cattle: An unusually heavy entry of fat cattle were yarded, including several pens of steers. For these latter there was not much demand, but practically the whole of the cow beef changed hands, at values firm on reoent Frankton quotations. Fewer store cows realised late rates. Two year steers and all the yearling heifers changed handg under a fair competition at late rates. The offering of dairy cows comprisad only inferior quality sorts, and values were low as a consequence. Medium fat steers made £3 5/- to £3 15/-; lighter to £3; prime fat cows £2 18/- to £3 10,/-; medium quality £2 6/- to £2 "15/-; lighter £1 15/- to £2 5/-; light and unfinished £1 10/- to £1 15/-; good •stores 19/- to £2 7/6; inferior £1 4/to £1 11/-; plain store steers £1 15/to £2 11/-; others up to £1 10/-; inferior dairy cows £3 5/- to £4 5/*-; others up to £3. Pigs: The yarding again comprised mostly of stpres and weaners, there being a scarcity of porkers. Competition was slightly easier. Prices receded a shade on this week's Frankton values. .Light porkers 18/to £1 8/-; large stores 16/- to 17/6 ; smaller 13/- to 15/-; slip'S 11/- to 13/-; large weaners 9/- to 11/-; inferior up to 8/-. Sheep: A small entry of only inferior quality ewes, and a few pens of medium sorts of lambs were competed for up to late rates. Medium quality lambs 10/- to 11/-; other 3 9/to 9/7; aged ewes 5/- to 5/6; inferior 4/- to 5/-; medium hoggets 10/3.
