A Whakarewarewa girl, Miss Lena Harman, has won the first prize in the annual essay competition conducted by the Akarana Maori Association for pupils of the Queen Victoria Maori Girls' School, Parnell. The senior prize will be presented to Lena Harman, whose essay was entitled "The Legion of Te Whakapakina," and the junior prize to Meri Taurau, wh'o wyote qn "Ancient M'aprl^Ietho.d^
