DESPERATE THIEF

KNOCKS OUT MANAGER STRUCK DOWN BY HEAVY BLOW ON ENTERING SHOP INTRUDER ESCAPES IN CAR Eketahuna, Wednesday. On entering Yates groeery store at 8.30 p.m. to-night, the manager Charles William McLaughlan, was struck a heavy blow on the head hy an intruder who was lurking on the premises. Mr. McLaughlan was rehdered uiiconscious and the man made good his escape. It is reported that he drove off in a fast car, which was standing outside the shop. Mr. McLaughlan was attended by a doctor and taken to his home. His injuries are not serious. No stock was taken from the shop.
