The Government meteoroloplst lssued the following weather report and forecast last niffht: — General situation: An a'nti-cyclone has moved on to the Dominion, while the depression over the south-western Tasman Sea has apparently been losing its intensity. Forecast:, Winds northerlies to north -westerlies prevaili'ng, and j gradually freshening. Weather: Fair to fine and warm * generally at first, but cloud increasing in districts with a westerly as. pect, and rain developing later in Westland and about Foveaux Strait. Followiag are ihe barometer, rnaximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 I a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.152ins. Thermometer (max.) 73.1deg. Thermometer (mi'n.) 42.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 31.8deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 11.2hrs.
