JAZZ CLUB

SUCCESSFUL .BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION HELD. The Opotiki Jazz Club birthday party was held in the Farmers' Social rooms on Friday evening. The hall was beautifully decorated with oranga and black streamers and orangeshaded lights. Bowls of sweet peas and lavender added eolour to the supper tahles, the supper itself being provided by the iadies of the committaee. After supper, Mr. G. Dawson, president of the Hub, thanlced all members and friends for their support, and explained that che function was the eighth celehnation of the Jazz Club's birthday. He then called upon Mrs. Dawson to eut the birthday cake. It being Miss Birkmyer's 21st birthday, she was presented with a larga portion of the cake, and all joined in singing "For She'ts ta Jolly Good Fellow." A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss L. Clarke and Mr. D. Pearce. The Semla Orchestra suppliad the dance numbers land Mr. H. Simpson carried out duties of M.C. Among those present were: Misises M. Isaac, pink floral lace; P. Todd, black georgette; W. Looney, floral georgette; G. Stewart, green satin; N. Tyrie, lime ninon; E. Hutchins, midnight blue satin; K. Garvey, black velvet and net; F. Sydenham, floral blue georgette; Z. Wilson, delp. blue lace and georgette; Ham, black taffeta; E. Duffill, cream net; Z. Gordon, azure blue satin; L. Clark, black georgette; E. Fleming, blue satin beaute; M. Braae, rose georgette; A. Tabb, black satin beaute; J. Todd, ereme lace; P. Holloway, floral mousseline; B. Ensoll, black and green georgette; M. Birkmyer, floral taffeta; N. Kemp', figured satin; J. DoAvney, shell pink satin; C. Larmer, azure satin. Mesdames F. Rennett, flame satin beaute; A. Short, ivory georgette and lace; R. O'Sullivan, apple green georgette; II. _ Jessop, floral taffeta; A. ' Hilford, shrimp pink crepe de chine; W. Smith, flame georgette; A. Herring, red and white ninon; G. Dawson, black chiffon taffeta.
