MOTOR OFFENCES
DRXVER FINED IN COURT FOR HURRYING TO MEET! MINISTER Several motor offences were dealt with yesterday by Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Rotorua Magistrate's Court. Hurrying to Meet Minister K. M. Montgomery, an ofBcial of the Agricultural Department said that the reason. why he was travelling on the Taupo Road at an average speed of 40 miles an hour was that in company with his chief he was hurrying to get to Galatea settlement where he had to- meet the Minister in charge of the department. D. M. Ford, traffic inspector, said that the defendant went along at from 40 to 50 miles an hour and averaged 40 miles per h'our even around had corners. He had previously been warned for speeding. K. M. Montgomery, the defendant, gave evidence that he had had to travel fast to meet the Minister. He was fined £1 and 10/- costs.
