HIGH SCHOOL A SCORE WELL AGAINST NGONGOTAHA
A good seore was put up by High School A in the mateh against Ngongotaha commenced on the High School ground last Saturday, the side having scored 277 runs for the loss of nine wickets at stumps. Hinton won the toss and decided to bat on a slow, easy wieket, Dawson aecompanying him to the crease. Ellis and Beaumont were the opening- bowlers for Ngongotaha, but runs eame readily despite steady trundling by the first-naihed bowler. The first wicket fell at 20 ruris, Dawson being beaten by a delivery from Ellis and Beale also lost his wicket to the same bowler. . - When 33, and with 58 runs oii the ■ board, Hinton sniclced a ball to Craig behind the wicket, hut the positioii was improved by a good partnership by Higgins and Hampson which yielded 158 runs for the fourth wicketAfter scoring 91 runs in a capable manner, Hampson fell to Ellis and Higgins also made a valuable contribution of 84 before stepping in front to a delivery from the sani'e bowler. With the exception of Alexander, who scored 25 runs, the tailenders made little progress, hut the side was still undefeated at stumps with a tatai of 277 on the board.
