LORRY CAPSIZES OVER BANK IN THE WAIOEKA GORGE

An accident occurred in the Waioeka Gorge about 31 miles from Opotiki on Wednesday when a motor lorry owned by Mr. Arthur Leslie Beets, of Matawai, capsized and went over the bank after colliding with a private car, driven by Mr. William Henry Alpine, of 274 Remuera Road, Auckland. Mr. William Edgar Ward, solicitor, of Matawai, lately of Whakatane, received cuts, bruises and shoclc and was admitted to the Opotiki Hospital. Shortly after the accident the A.A.A. patrol, accompanied by Mr. C. Pipe, the Opotiki agent, proceeding to Gisborne, arrived at the site of the accident and rendered first aid. Mr. Ward was discharged from hospital yesterday (Thursday) .
