The Government meteorolofdst lssued the following weather report and forecast last niffht: — General situation: A new depression with its centre off the south-west coast was moving on to New Zealand and this afternoon pressure has risen rapidly to the south-east of Aiistralia. Forecast: Winds strong north-eas-terlies to northeriies reaching gale force, but a change to southerly within 24 hours. .Weather: Unsettled with general rain probable a'nd many heavy falls; temperatures warm, but coider tomorow, thunder in places and snow on the ranges. Following are the barometer, tnaxiI mum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.797ins. Thermometer (max. 67.7deg. Thermometer (min.) 46.1deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 38.5deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 13.0hrs.
