WOMEN'S INSTJTUTE. The next meeting of the Mamaku branch' of the Women's Institute will take the form of a gaa'den, party, to- be held in the gardens of Mrs. Cowper', Mamaku, on December 7, at 1 o'clock. Sideshows and afternoon tea 'will be | available. All members are invited j to bring a friend. | Sports Meeting. On Thursday evening last a meeting of the sports committee was held in the Regent Hall.- It waa decided to hold the annual sports for next year on February 18, on the local domain. A novice chop has been introduced to the usual programme, and sideshows and refreshments will be provided on the grounds. Mr. Reed was elected chairman and secretary, and is to have two assistant secretaries, to help carry out the business part of the programme. Mr. W. Steele w-as elected patron and Mr. A. Hemmings, president. Posters will soon be on show in all leading shops in Rotorua land Mamaku. Maori Dance. A most ' successful dance was held in the Regent Hall on Saturday evening to raise funds for the erection, of a new meeting house at Tarukenga. Excellent music was provided by the Fairy Boys' Orchestra. A poi dance given by Maori girls was well received. The Monte Carlo was won, by Miss Lilly Rota and partner. Thexe was a satisfactory attendance and a good round sum went to augment the funds for which the dance was raised.
