The ' Govepnmeht • meteoroloplst ^lssued the following weather report and forecast last nisrht : — Ge'neral situation: Since yesterday while an anti.cyclone has been pass_ "Tng to the north of New Zealand a fresh depression advanced with unusual rapidity from the western and southern portion of the Dominion. Forecast: Winds fresh to str'Ong from between west and north, gales in places south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint; a change to south commencing soon in the south and becomipg -general the next 24 hours. Weather: Unsettled with showers Fn most districts; temperatures becoming warm soon again; unsettled spell likely to be brief. Following. are the barometer, rnajdmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall- readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.50 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.879ins. Thermometer (max.) 67.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 40.8deg. Thermometer (min, on grass) 28.2deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 9.8hrs.
